This snow is for the dogs.
The forecast called for an inch, Stonewall Bed & Breakfast received almost 6 inches of fresh snow today. The powder white floors of the forest beckon to be tracked upon by dog paws and a pair of Yukon Jack Snowshoes. Cold temperatures and snowfall did not stop the dogs from wanting their walk in the woods. So I decided to strap on my mountain gear and pretend I was back in Colorado again as I went out into the wilderness with the puppy paws prancing beside me.
My aunt was visiting from West Virginia and decided being snowed in at a bed and breakfast was not the worst case scenario for a January day. Although she did not want to go out and play in the snow with me I tried to keep her comfy inside by the fire with a crock pot of German Glühwein. Glühwein, literally “glow wine” or German mulled wine, is served at special stands at Christkindl markets throughout Germany and Austria. Mulled wine is a traditional warm beverage combined with different spices, red wine, citrus fruits and sugar. Being a bit German - Zimmerman that we are, it sounded like a warm and fuzzy solution with the 11* temperature outside.
